Living on one of the many islands off the coast of Maine, Jessica's focus at this time was landscape painting. Faced with the entire history of landscape painting she found her focus in rethinking the canvas as an entirety and began thinking of her paintings as islands. This led her to new compostional strategies while allowing her the freedom to continue to explore abstraction through landscape forms.
