Galle Jake and I worked together for 2 semesters as student and mentor through the MFA program at Vermont College. During this time Jake made films and site specific installations on the acreage of his family farm in Bowdoinham, Maine. Labor is the central focus of his work, informing both visual structure and content. Using repetition to sometimes grotesque, sometimes beautiful ends his work questions how vulgar and strenuous acts can result in sensuous, provocative, and unyielding images.
