A series of ephemeral exchanges with artist Ling Wen Tsai, wherein she
would present me with a gesture to respond to with sound, and visa
versa, evolved into the performance of I.C.U. on stage at the Portland
Stage Company. For a three minute duration seven individual performers
watch the growth and death of personally chosen and tended plants. An
audio score composed with handmade bamboo instruments and water
accompanies the movements of the performers.
